Hisense Fridge Hinge Recall

HISENSE FRIDGE HINGE RECALL – JUNE 2022

In June, Hisense announced a recall of certain french door refrigerator hinges due to safety concerns. Our team at Appliance Professional is factory authorized by Hisense to replace the hinges for free.

Hisense announced the recall in June 2022. You can read their full statement and instructions on the Hisense website. Here is a brief overview of what you need to know:

WHY IS THERE A RECALL?

The hinges may break, causing the door to fall off, potentially injuring consumers.

IS MY FRIDGE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL?

If you purchased your Hisense fridge at Lowes from about August 2020 through February 2022, you may be a part of the recall. If that’s you, or you’re not sure, go to Hisense’s recall portal to enter your model and serial numbers. Click here to go to their recall portal.

HOW DO I GET MY HINGES REPLACED?

Hisense is replacing the hinges free of charge to customers. Follow these steps to have your hinges replaced:

  • Check your model and serial number at www.hisenseservice.com/recall/ and go through them to schedule an appointment with a qualified technician.
  • Don’t forget to request Appliance Professional!
  • As soon as we receive a work order from Hisense, we will call you to schedule the service. Typically Hisense will send the parts directly to the consumer, so we will need to confirm when you receive the new parts before scheduling your appointment.

WHAT DO I DO IN THE MEANTIME?

Hisense’s recall website says that as long as your refrigerator doors appear to be functioning properly, you may continue to use the refrigerator with caution, and you should avoid opening the doors aggressively or allowing the doors to swing to its maximum open position.
